Okay as you know, the site is called CornerPixel because I want it to eventually be known as a place for web professionals to come and use resources which are grounded in good standard practices.  Well evidently you won't come to this site for spelling help.  The site has been up for at least 4 months and a friend of mine just pointed out that I had misspelled CornerPixel in the banner. 

"WOW, how did I miss that?" I thought.  It was right at the top of my page.  Oh well, it is fixed now, but I did do a quick print screen so that I could post it here.

There you have it.  We are officially not the CornerPixel of Spelling.  I might even have to make it a point to misspell words in the future just to remind you all of that.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that DNN 5.0 was released. I have already downloaded it and have taken it for a spin.  My first impressions are that it is good.  I have run into a couple issues though.

1. I tried to include a bunch of modules while I was running through the install wizard.  That caused the installation to error out.  I even tried to just install 4 modules and got the same result.  It looks like the best thing is to just pick a couple.
2. I noticed that once DNN is installed you don't have the ability to add the common DNN modules like I did with the older versions of DNN.  Now don't get me wrong, I can still download them from DotNetNuke's site and install them, but it used to be easier.
3. The Extropy skin's are pretty bad.  They break and look bad in IE7 and are unpredictable at best when you add new content to the pages.

Okay that is all for now.  I am going to continue to dive into DNN 5.0.  I know some of the above comments are negative, but I am still excited about the product.

It is interesting that the Blog Action Day falls during such economically bleak days here in the U.S.  We here in the States have lived many years in such wonderful economic growth it is hard for us to really grasp poverty and just how poor some are around the world.

I know before I started working for the company I work for now I didn't think much of poverty.  I knew that many people in the world struggled with poverty but I had no idea just how many.  Below are some stats I got from the World Concern Website.

• There are approximately 2 billion children in the world, and half of them live in poverty.
• 1.1 billion people around the world, mostly in developing countries, don't have access to clean water.
• 20% of the world's wealthy are responsible for 76% of all the consumption in the world
• One quarter of the world's population lives without electricity of any kind

The above links were just some of the stats.

I began working for CRISTA Ministries 3 years ago and one of the ministries that is part of CRISTA is World Concern.  It has been a pleasure to be involved in an organization like World Concern.  They do so much for poverty around the world.  The one thing I really like about World Concern is the way they do more than just hand out to the poor and needy.  They basically teach the poor how to fish.  I know you have all heard that quote.  I don't remember how it goes but it goes something like this.

Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.  Teach him how to fish and feed him for life.

Well World Concern has all sort of programs from Micro-loans to well digging.  You should really check out their site and maybe even find out what you can do to help out or support their mission.

Okay this is going to be a quick read for all of you.

I just wanted to inform you that I added my first portfolio page.  It isn't much but it is a start.  You will find on the right side of the LLC page, a link to a TouchPoints Ministry portfolio page.  Once there, you will be presented with a link to the customer's site and a little information from me to describe the process, project, website or customer.

Also thanks to Mr. Turner, a moderator at CSS Creator for pointing out a spelling mistake on CornerPixel's home page.  It turns out I am NOT a spelling genius.  I fixed the mistakes, but for all those grammar teachers out there, feel free to pick apart the website.  Just make sure to send me a nice email telling me all about my mess ups.
